FLORIDA NARCOTIC

OFFICERS' ASSOCIATION

ABOUT US

The Florida Narcotic Officers' Association began as a spin-off of the Florida Sheriff's Association Statewide Crack Cocaine Task Force. Many law enforcement officers involved in the operation of the FSA Task Force began discussing the possibility of a Florida Narcotic Officers' Association.

On July 18, 1992, Captain James Tagliarini, of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, called together the narcotic officers around the State of Florida to establish the Florida Narcotic Officers' Association. A meeting was held in Tampa at the FOP Lodge 108.

Fifty-six sworn law enforcement officers who attended the meeting voted to form the Florida Narcotic Officers' Association. Currently, there are over 700 active members of the FNOA and the membership is increasing. Members are a diverse group of conscientious law enforcement agents, state, county, and municipal agency law enforcement officers, as well as some out-of-state members.

The FNOA has become one of the most sought after organizations in the State of Florida for training of narcotic officers The FNOA, throughout the year, conducts regional training seminars in different areas of the state. Annually, the FNOA presents a training conference that has developed into the premiere event of the year and is widely used by state, local and federal agencies as a training venue for their officers and agents. The FNOA has become a leader in providing the highest quality training available today at little or no cost to the agencies and departments. Due to the training made available by the Multijurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force Training (MCTFT), state, federal and local agents in the field.

The goals of the FNOA are not only to provide the best in training, but also to promote multi-agency contacts among narcotic agents around the state and to promote anti-drug awareness. The FNOA closely monitors legislation that may affect law enforcement on state and national levels. Though not a lobbying organization, the FNOA has a loud voice through its large body of members. The FNOA is united with a large coalition of other state narcotic officer associations.

The FNOA has come a long way since its inception in 1992, and is rapidly moving ahead. With continued hard work and dedication of the membership, the Florida Narcotic Officers' Association is rapidly becoming one of the top narcotic officers' associations in the country.
